Another (或a different) pair of shoes 另外一回事,另当别论
源出法语成语tout autre chose(完全是另外一回事),因此shoes(鞋子)可能是chose(动产)的讹用。
【例】that’s another pair of shoes.
Applaud one to the echo
(I would applaud thee to the very echo, that should applaud again.)
[例]when he had finished his speech, his audience cheered him to the echo.
The apple of discord
【例】she is the apple of discord wherever she appears.
The apple of one’s eye
(keep me as the apple of the eye.)
[例] the little girl was the apple of her grandparent’s eye.
Apirl fool
【例】don’t listen to him. He’s going to make an april fool of you.
