Why not 后面可以跟不带to 的不定式，用来提出建议，有时也可以采用Why don’t you…?

--Why not tell us the color you have in mind?
为什么不把你心目中的颜色告诉我们呢？
Why not (don’t you )ship the goods in two lost?
为何不分两批装运货物呢？
如果why 后面没有not 而接不带to 的不定式，则表示“某一动作”是不必要的或无意义的。

为什么９月份就开信用证呢？你们的货１１月份还来不及备妥，是吗？
