Adams: Mr. Huang, I’d like to have a talk with you over the question of insurance. if it’s convenient to you.

Huang: Why, certainly. Go ahead, please. I would be very overjoyed if I can help you in any way.

Adams: What do your insurance clauses cover?

Huang: There are usually three basis covers, namely, Free From Particular Average, With Particular Average and All risks.

Adams: If transaction is concouded on CIF basis, what coverage will you take out for the goods?

Huang Generally speaking, we only insure the goods With Particular Average.

Adams:Do you cover risks other than W.P.A.? For instance, TPND, Brdakage and Fresh and/ or Rain Water Damage?

Huang: Yes. If the buyers want to have the goods insured against these risks, we shall arrange for them.

Adams: And it is the buyers who will pay for the extra premium, I think.

Huang: That’s it. According to the international practice, we do not insure against such risks unles they a5re called for by the buyers. 

Adams: another thing. We would like to have the goods insured for 130% of the invoice value. Can that be done?

Huang: Yes. Although our usual practice is to insure the goods at the invoice value plus 10%,we are prepared to get cover for 130 % of the invoicevalue. I don’t think it necessary for me to tell you that the extra charge will be for your own account.

Adams: Absolutely not. Now, one more question. In the event of loss of or damage to my goods, how am to lodge a claim?

Huang: The most commonly adopted practice is that you lodge a claim with the agent at your within 60 days after arrival of the goods. And it goes without saying that you ‘ll have a survey report to support the claim.
